Liverpool trio tipped to leave this summer

Liverpool trio Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi will all leave the club this summer, according to Paul Robinson.

The Lowdown: Summer exits expected

Jurgen Klopp is likely to be looking at new signings during the summer transfer window as he looks to take his squad up another level again.

On the flip side, a number of players could also be making their way out of Anfield, with the German perhaps no longer seeing them as an important part of his plans.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino and Origi all fall into that category, with the latter already set for a move to Serie A champions AC Milan.

The Latest: Robinson drops exit claim

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson was firmly of the opinion that all three of those players would move on this summer, following Fabio Carvalho’s arrival at Liverpool.

The Sky Sports pundit said:

“Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino and Origi are the three I think will leave. Minamino nearly joined Leeds in January but the deal never went through.

“It sounds like Origi is a done deal. Those three will leave a big whole in Liverpool’s squad. A hole that needs to be filled.

“It is an area they will look to rejuvenate in. That is what Klopp and Guardiola are good at, rejuvenating. That Liverpool squad needs freshening and Carvalho will do that.”

The Verdict: All nailed-on to leave?

It looks highly likely that at least two of the aforementioned players will move on from Liverpool, with Origi already being given an Anfield farewell and Oxlade-Chamberlain completely out of favour, not playing at all since March.

While Minamino will likely depart, he has been a more prominent figure for the Reds, scoring 10 goals this season despite a lack of game-time.

Keeping hold of the Japan international wouldn’t be a bad thing, although if he wants to be a regular starter elsewhere, allowing him to move on would also make perfect sense.

Spiers drops key Neves claim

Reliable journalist Tim Spiers believes Ruben Neves could yet be torn over whether or not to leave Wolves this summer, after hearing his words on Sunday.

The Lowdown: Neves’ final game?

Wanderers were beaten 3-1 away to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, producing a good performance at Anfield on a dramatic final day of the Premier League season.

Neves started in the middle of the park, making his 33rd league appearance in an excellent campaign, in what may end up being his last-ever game for Wanderers.

The 25-year-old has been continually linked with a summer move to Barcelona and his head may have been turned by their interest, with reports even claiming it’s a move that’s ‘destined’ to happen, but Spiers has shared a possible late twist…

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/all-the-latest-from-wolves-6/” title=”All the latest from Wolves!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=“none”]

The Latest: Twist in the tale?

Taking to Twitter after the Liverpool game, Spiers said that it could yet be an emotional issue for the player after hearing what he had to say:

“Neves says nothing decided but mentioned twice that careers are short and dreams need to be lived. ‘I don’t know how it’s going to be. If it was my last game it was really important.’ Clearly would be a wrench to leave. His affection for Wolves and the city is genuine.”

[freshpress-poll id=“388780″]

The Verdict: More likely to leave

While it would be heartwarming to see Neves stay on at Molineux beyond this season, it still feels highly likely to he will find another club this summer, likely one that plays in red and blue in Catalonia.

At 25, he is coming into the absolute peak years of his career and he may simply feel that he has come as far as he can in a Wolves shirt, following five memorable years at the club.

If Neves does leave, he could be remembered as one of the best midfielders to ever play for the club, possessing such wonderful technique and also helping the club return to the Premier League.

In other news, Wolves are reportedly eyeing up a move for an exciting defender. Find out who it is here.

Celtic touted for French transfer business

Celtic underwent a significant overhaul during the previous summer transfer window.

This has since turned out to be very beneficial for the Hoops as they recently ended the 2021/22 SPFL season as league champions, bringing their Old Firm rivals’ time as top dogs to an end.

Now that Ange Postecoglou’s debut season in charge of the Bhoys has come to a successful end, the focus at Lennoxtown can now turn to the next window and what sort of business the club will look to do.

With that in mind, it seems as though a clue has emerged that should excite a lot of supporters at Parkhead.

What’s the talk?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist and transfer insider Pete O’Rourke had this to say about the possibility of Celtic dipping into the French transfer market this summer and potentially signing SM Caen striker Alexandre Mendy.

He said: “It’s been a successful market for Celtic in the past, them raiding the French market, and maybe they’ll be hoping they could have more success if they do decide to pursue a move for Mendy as well.

“He looks like a talented player, and Postecoglou is planning ahead and looking to strengthen his squad with their Champions League football in mind next season.”

Great news

The Hoops were linked with a move for the striker last month and reportedly had an offer for him turned down.

With 64 appearances to his name for his current club, the 28-year-old has scored 21 goals and provided three assists along the way.

One player that comes to mind when thinking about players Celtic have signed from France in the past is Odsonne Edouard.

After initially arriving on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, the striker signed permanently a year later for a club-record fee of £9m.

The Frenchman then joined Crystal Palace last summer for £14m after scoring 86 times in 179 appearances across all competitions.

This backs up what O’Rourke had to say about the Hoops being successful when it comes to signing players from France in the past.

Thus, if Postecoglou can pull off another successful summer of transfer business, starting by adding Mendy to their ranks, it would surely be great for the club, particularly if they end up winning more silverware next season.

Robinson reacts to Ward-Prowse to Tottenham transfer update

Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham Hotspur to completely forget about the possibility of signing Southampton star James Ward-Prowse this summer, despite calling the player ‘incredible’.

The Lowdown: Spurs monitoring Ward-Prowse

The 27-year-old still has four years remaining on his current contract with the Saints after signing an extension last year, which is set to keep him at the St. Mary’s Stadium until at least 2026.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-newest-updates/” title=”Tottenham newest updates…” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

However, due to his recent impressive run of form, the midfielder has been attracting plenty of interest, and according to a transfer update published by the Daily Star, it’s claimed that the north London outfit are monitoring Ward-Prowse.

The Lilywhites are allegedly considering a move for him during the upcoming window, but are set to face competition from fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The Latest: Robinson’s doubts

When asked after that transfer update whether he thinks the ten-cap international could fit into the Spurs starting XI, Robinson told Football Insider: “I’m not so sure about Ward-Prowse.

“Make no mistake about it, his set-pieces are incredible. But I am yet to be convinced about his all-round game.

“Yes, he stands out in a Southampton team but could he stand out in a Spurs team? Could he take Spurs to the next level? Which is competing regularly in the Champions League. I’m not sure he could, if I’m honest. I’d be looking elsewhere.”

The Verdict: Perfect creative outlet

The £100k-per-week ace, who was once hailed an “unbelievable” player by his Saints teammate Oriol Romeu, definitely has the ability to shine in Antonio Conte’s side, and could be the missing piece of the puzzle to give them that creativity in the middle of the park that they have been so desperately lacking.

Ward-Prowse has had a huge influence on the pitch under Ralph Hasenhuttl this season, having scored ten goals and provided eight assists in all competitions for Southampton, as per Transfermarkt, not to mention the fact that David Beckham is the only player to have netted more direct free-kicks than him in Premier League history.

As the Italian boss looks to reassemble his squad ahead of the start of the 2022/23 campaign, two new midfielders are believed to be on his wishlist this summer, and so he could be tempted to bolster his ranks with the maestro in a bid to push for a place in the Champions League and beyond next season.

In other news… Spurs are said to be eyeing up a move for a ‘fantastic’ new transfer target.

Nottingham Forest interested in Luke Turner

Nottingham Forest are hopeful they can be successful in their pursuit of Premier League football next season and are already looking at new additions to strengthen their already great squad.

What’s the latest?

According to the Aberdeen manager, Jim Goodwin, Luke Turner will be made available to leave the club this summer following interest from Nottingham Forest.

He said: “We’ve spoken to Luke and his representatives.

“We felt it was right just to give him the opportunity to go and find something a bit more permanent somewhere else.”

The Daily Record reported on Monday night that an offer of a trial had been made for the defender to prove his worth to the Midlands club.

Cooper will love him

The addition of another youngster in the squad would surely be something Forest manager Steve Cooper would love to see especially when you consider how well so many of the young players in the team are excelling under his management.

Brennan Johnson, James Garner and Djed Spence are three young players who have been integral to Forest’s successes in securing a spot in the  Championship play-off places this season, however, both Spence and Garner are on loan so bringing in new rising talents would be advantageous to the club.

The 6 foot 1 Aberdeen defender has been attracting attention from Nottingham Forest despite not making a single appearance for his Scottish club, but this season he has been on loan to Northern Irish side Cliftonville and is in impressive form making 43 appearances and scoring two goals.

Turner was hailed an “outstanding young talent” by journalist Josh Bunting and was recently dubbed a “revelation” by Cliftonville manager Paddy McLaughlin.

The manager said (via Belfast Live): “Since the day Luke came in the door, he has been a revelation.

“He has put in big performances and he has been really consistent.

“It’s difficult sometimes for young players to be consistently good every week, but he has been a really consistent performer for us at 19 years of age.”

It wouldn’t be the first time Forest has signed a defender from the SPFL club, with Scott McKenna joining from Aberdeen. Now, Turner could follow in his footsteps.

Rangers injury update emerges on duo

A big Rangers injury claim has emerged over two Ibrox gems as Giovanni van Bronckhorst prepares for a huge European outing.

What’s the latest?

Gers journalist Joshua Barrie has hinted that both Aaron Ramsey and Kemar Roofe could be in the squad for the Europa League clash at Ibrox tonight.

He Tweeted: “Asked Giovanni van Bronckhorst if Ramsey/Roofe will be ready for tomorrow. Says he doesn’t know yet but today will be a “big day” for both. Sounds like there is a chance they can make it.”

It had been reported by the Scottish Sun that the latter is winning the race to be fit for the game, whereas it was unclear as to whether or not the former will be in a condition to be in the matchday line-up.

Supporters will be elated

Ibrox supporters will surely be left feeling elated by this news as it suggests that they may both be in action against Leipzig tonight.

This is a gigantic game for Rangers as they have the opportunity to secure a place in a major European final. They are 1-0 down on aggregate, thanks to a stunning strike from Angelino in the first leg, and will have to overturn that deficit in Glasgow to book their spot in the showpiece clash in Seville.

The Gers beat Braga 3-1 at Ibrox in the quarter-finals to progress through to the last four and Roofe played a crucial role in that game.

He had a goal disallowed by VAR for handball by Borna Barisic, won a penalty – scored by James Tavernier – and then went on to bag the winning goal in extra time as he tapped the ball in from Joe Aribo’s cross.

It was a big performance from the centre-forward and that display illustrates why him being available for action tonight will be a huge boost for van Bronckhorst. He has shown that he can step up in Europe and will, therefore, be a key player if he is fit.

Ramsey, meanwhile, has scored two goals in three starts in the Premiership since arriving in January. He has an eye for a goal from midfield and having him as an option off the bench to come on and win the game late on if Rangers are still in it will surely delight the head coach.

Therefore, fans will be elated by the prospect of both players being in the squad tonight and will be hoping that they have both been able to overcome their respective blows.

Wolves plot move for Geoffrey Kondogbia

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

What’s the word?

That is according to a report from Goal Espana, who claimed that Bruno Lage’s side have “monitored” the 29-year-old, with Atletico willing to consider a “good offer” for the Central African Republic international.

The “Octopus”

Dubbed “El Pulpo” in Spain, which translates to “the octopus” – as per Domingo Ortiz on Twitter – Kondogbia has earned his nickname for his ball recovery in midfield.

In fairness, this billing by the Spanish media is entirely apt, with his average of 12 ball recoveries per match placing him in the elite category for positionally similar players in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

In comparison, N’Golo Kante – who is renowned for winning back possession – achieves roughly 8.5 ball recoveries per game, which is nowhere near the elite category considering his position, according to FBRef.

Wolves star Ruben Neves boasts an average of around 10.7 ball recoveries per match, with team-mate Leander Dendoncker averaging 8.2 recoveries per game.

All of the aforementioned players are very sufficient in this area, but with both Neves and Dendoncker potentially departing Molineux this summer, Lage will need at least one replacement midfielder. ‘El Pulpo’ would provide that option and more to the 45-year-old.

The Central African Republic player is more defensive-minded than both Neves and Dendoncker, with his average of six tackles and interceptions per game bettering the Wolves pair’s numbers. Neves comes the closest with an average of five, whilst Dendoncker falters in comparison with an average of three.

These numbers may not seem too dissimilar, but if a player is achieving superior numbers in and around the middle and defensive third like Kondogbia is, it could only enhance the defensive stability of Lage’s team.

The signing of the £13.5m-rated player would give Lage the license to axe Neves and Dendoncker, who cost the Molineux club a reported £133k per week in wages, as per Salary Sport.

Kondogbia’s attributes out of possession would likely enable him to fill the void in the midfield, although it could be worth pairing the 29-year-old workhorse with a more creative threat in what could be a powerhouse of a midfield for the Old Gold next season.

In other news: Lage could end Wolves’ goal draught with 6 ft 2 striker who “can’t stop scoring”…

Better than Kudus: Paratici plots Spurs move for "one of the best" PL stars

After Ange Postecoglou’s dismal season in the Premier League throughout 2024/25, changes simply had to be made if Tottenham Hotspur were to progress in the right direction.

His Europa League triumph certainly papered over the cracks, but former chairman Daniel Levy saw the bigger picture and decided a switch in manager was needed.

Such responsibility fell into the hands of Thomas Frank, with the former Brentford boss tasked with the responsibility of transforming the Lilywhites’ fortunes in England’s top-flight.

The backline was a real issue for the club last time around, but the 51-year-old has already made an immediate impact – as seen by their tally of six clean sheets across all competitions.

However, the upcoming January transfer window is rapidly approaching, which could see added quality being injected into the opposite end of the pitch.

Spurs’ hunt for new attacking talent in January

Over the last couple of days, Spurs have once again been linked with a deal to land Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo after previously wanting him during the summer.

The Ghanaian international has enjoyed a phenomenal start to 2025/26, scoring on six occasions and registering three assists within his first eight outings.

However, he’s not the only Premier League forward currently on their radar, with Sporting Director Fabio Paratici targeting a move for Everton star Iliman Ndiaye.

The latest report from TEAMtalk states that the Lilywhites see the 25-year-old as a top target for the winter window, but face competition from a fellow top-flight rival.

Newcastle United are also in the race to land the versatile forward in the coming months, which has seen a £60m price tag mooted to prise him away from the Toffees.

Why Spurs’ latest target is even better than Kudus

Landing an attacker from another Premier League side certainly isn’t alien to Spurs, as seen by their deal to land winger Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.

The hierarchy forked out a fee in the region of £55m for the 25-year-old’s signature, with the Ghanaian seen as the player to take the frontline to the next level.

It’s safe to say he’s already had an immediate impact at the Lilywhites, scoring once and notching four assists within his first eight Premier League appearances.

Kudus has certainly nailed down the role on the right-hand side of the frontline, but he could be joined by another phenomenal talent in the form of Ndiaye.

The Toffees forward has rapidly progressed under David Moyes over the last couple of months, with the Senegalese international now one of the most potent attackers in the division.

When comparing his stats to those of the new Lilywhites addition, Ndiaye has managed to outperform him in numerous key areas throughout the early stages of 2025/26.

The Toffees star has achieved a better shot on target rate and a higher goal per shot on target average – which showcases the added goalscoring threat he possesses.

He’s also completed more passes and registered a higher tally of key passes per 90 – leading to one analyst labelling him as “one of the best” talents in the Premier League.

Ndiaye’s dominance over Kudus is further reflected in his higher take-on success and better tally of carries into the final third per 90 – highlighting his ability to progress the ball into dangerous areas whenever possible.

£60m would be another huge statement from the hierarchy, but it’s a deal that could add further quality into Frank’s frontline in his quest for success in North London.

The prospect of Ndiaye thriving with Kudus at the Lilywhites is truly one to behold, which could see the club be the home to two of the division’s best attacking talents.

However, the board will have to act quickly in January to complete a deal for his signature, especially given the interest from rivals Newcastle United.

Aston Villa scouts blown away by hat-trick hero Ismael Saibari

Aston Villa scouts are being put through their paces ahead of the January window and may now have found a player worth pursuing in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ismael Saibari.

The Villans struggled for goals in the early part of the campaign, and it is fair to say that their efforts to hit the target need to improve, given they are one of the lowest-scoring sides in the Premier League table.

Yet to hit double figures on that front, at the time of writing, much has been made of Ollie Watkins’ poor form at Aston Villa this season. The England international has hit the target in just one of 13 this campaign, failing to repeat the stellar form he showed in 2024/25.

Undoubtedly, January will be a time where finding potency will be prioritised. Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani is on the Villans’ radar and may be pursued, with Unai Emery set on achieving even loftier goals than the accomplishments he has met during his three years in the West Midlands.

He said before the clash with Liverpool: “Still work to do, still objectives to set and work hard to achieve those objectives – collectively and myself as well, individually.

“One of them is some titles, but of course the title only is winning one, Premier League, the cups in England, and Europe, is the target we can set through to achieve some titles, and we are in this way.”

PSR may force Aston Villa’s hand as Liverpool plot a move for Ezri Konsa. Even then, there will be room to recruit more additions to offer Emery a greater sense of potency in his side’s hunt for continental qualification, something he may now find in his latest target.

Aston Villa scouts blown away by Ismael Saibari

According to TBR in conversation with Graeme Bailey, Aston Villa scouts were blown away by PSV midfielder Ismael Saibari after watching him in action against Feyenoord last weekend, where he scored a hat-trick.

Bailey said: “Saibari is attracting a lot of attention and his treble last week was special. He is one to keep an eye on for January, getting goals in January is something Premier League clubs especially are looking for and he could offer that.”

With ten goals and an assist to his name this term, the engine room operator is also wanted by Leeds United, West Ham United, Everton, Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Aston Villa eyeing Joshua Zirkzee to fill attacking void

Versatility is a key part of his game, something that could potentially signal several arrivals are imminent, given Saibari can feature as a ten, in central midfield or in a role shielding the back four.

Nevertheless, PSV hold the cards in negotiations due to having the Morocco international under contract until 2029. Aston Villa may need to shell out a premium to land his services, though could now be tempted by the prospect of a January bid.

After Jesus: Nottingham Forest make approach to sign fourth Brazilian star

Despite already reaching a verbal agreement to sign Botafogo trio Igor Jesus, Cuiabano and Jair Cunha, Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an approach to sign another Brazilian ace.

Nottingham Forest set to sign Botafogo trio

Evangelos Marinakis has wasted no time before turning towards the South American market yet again at the City Ground. The Greek owner has had previous success when welcoming the likes of Murillo and may have completed another act of genius by reaching an agreement to sign the aforementioned Botafogo trio.

Jesus particularly stands out among the three. The impressive striker could quickly become the air to Chris Wood’s striker throne at the City Ground, having scored eight goals in Brazil throughout the 2024/25 campaign after netting 25 in all competitions in the season prior at both Botafogo and at Shabab Al-Ahli Club.

Meanwhile, if Nottingham Forest fans needed any further introduction to Jesus and Cunha, then one glimpse at the Club World Cup should have given them exactly that. Both players scored in Botafogo’s 2-1 win against Seattle Sounders, whilst Cuiabano also featured from the bench.

All signs point towards excellent business by Nottingham Forest, but the Tricky Trees are not done there. With European football to look forward to next season, those at the City Ground are in their strongest position for a long time to attract some top talents.

It’s not something that Marinakis is keen to waste, either. With three Brazilian talents already on the way, Forest have also been linked with moves for the likes of Yoanne Wissa. The Brentford forward was the subject of interest from the City Ground in January and now that interest has reportedly been reignited.

Meanwhile, Forest aren’t done in South America either amid reports that they’ve made an approach to sign a fourth Brazilian talent this summer.

Nottingham Forest make Romulo Cardoso approach

According to GE Globo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Nottingham Forest have now made an approach to sign Romulo Cardoso from Goztepe this summer. The impressive forward is still just 23 years old and would be arriving off the back of an excellent campaign which saw him score 17 goals and create another 13 in Turkey.

That said, Forest aren’t alone in the race to sign the forward. Joining them, RB Leipzig and Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers are also reportedly interested in signing Romulo this summer. The Bundesliga club will become a particular threat if they are forced to replace Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko in the coming months.

Nottingham Forest negotiations to sign "superb" ace down to just £4m difference

Forest are in talks over signing a new attacker, but the clubs remain apart in their valuation.

ByBrett Worthington Jun 16, 2025

Whether Forest’s growing Brazilian contingent helps to convince the clinical goalscorer will be interesting to see too. The City Ground is quickly becoming the place to be for South American stars on the rise and Romulo could become the latest to make his way to the Midlands.

With contact already made and a number of clubs chasing his signature, Romulo has arguably the biggest decision of his career to make so far this summer.
