Nottingham Forest’s decision to let Anel Ahmedhodzic leave the City Ground back in 2019 could well go down as one of the biggest howlers the club has made in recent times.

Ahmedhodzic was a product of Swedish outfit Malmo FF and left the side to join Nottingham Forest’s U18s. The Bosnian with Swedish citizenship worked his way up to the Forest senior side, where he made one first-team appearance as a substitute against Newcastle United, before rejoining Malmo FF – this time as a first-team player.

After a six-month loan spell to Danish outfit Hobro IK, Ahmedhodzic was recalled and became a big part of the squad after signing a new three-year deal, with the side becoming league champions just seven months after he returned from his loan spell.

The following year was the antithesis of his spell at Forest and saw the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Atalanta very much interested in signing the then 22-year-old. The latter, Atalanta, were on the verge of signing Ahmedhodzic in March of 2021, though he stayed with Malmo and made his Champions League debut just five months later against Juventus.

Fast forward to the present day and Ahmedhodzic finds himself on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux, having established himself as a starter since joining in January.

Bordeaux have an option to buy the 6 foot 4 centre-back for just €4m (£3.3m) which is a bargain, considering his market value has elevated to £6.3m, according to Transfermarkt.

At 23-years-old his potential is limitless, though if you were to take a look at his stats, they would suggest he is a box-to-box midfielder.

They are peculiar to say the least, but nevertheless impressive. As a centre-back, it is very rare to achieve a shot-creating actions average of one SCA per 90 minutes. Though that suggests everything you need to know about Ahmedhodzic and the system that he operates in.

The Bosnia international plays in a back three and functions as an overlapping centre-back, with his ability in possession a key enabler in his desire to progress up the pitch.

He’s been described by Fabrizio Romano as a “top talent” and it is easy to see why.

If Ahmedhodzic keeps up this trajectory, he will have Nottingham Forest deeply regretting their decision to sell him after he was afforded just one appearance.

USA international Cameron Carter-Vickers, currently on a temporary spell at Celtic, is another Spurs player linked with a permanent summer exit with SBI Soccer reporter Larry Henry Jr now sharing a major development.

As per the American journalist, sharing news from one of his close sources, the Hoops are now in advanced talks to sign Carter-Vickers permanently from Spurs.

He explained (via Twitter):

“Celtic is in advanced talks to acquire USMNT and Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, a source confirmed. Celtic remains “very happy” with CCV, but still will need to fight off competition from English clubs.”

Offloading Carter-Vickers for a small profit margin is arguably imperative given Conte’s lofty summer transfer ambitions, with as many as six major signings reportedly on his agenda (The Telegraph).

The 24-year-old, a mainstay under Ange Postecoglou over 2021/2022, has barely been given a look-in down south for Tottenham and now is the perfect time to let him leave and further his career.

Once called a ‘beast’ by Spurs fan favourite Jan Vertonghen, it appears Carter-Vickers will have to take up that mantle elsewhere – likely at Parkhead and away from the Premier League.

His 224 came off only 270 balls, including 33 fours and a six, and dulled the impact a dominant batting performance from Multan Tigers who were propped up by tons from Abdul Rehman Muzammil (111 off 222 balls) and Mohammad Ali (104 off 227 balls) and racked up 403 runs.Adil Raza claimed his third five-wicket haul but his 5 for 103 and he would have been pleased with how the United Bank batsmen followed through. Besides Ahsan’s double-century, Ammar Hasan made 107 off 195 and Ali Asad also struck 86 off 132 to claim a 167-run lead. The psychological advantage almost made a tangible impact with Tigers’ middle order showing a bit of brittleness. But Usman Liaqat’s unbeaten half-century took Tigers to safety.

تلقى النجم البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو تعليمات من ناديه مانشستر يونايتد الإنجليزي بعدم العودة إلى مقر تدريبات الفريق، بعد منافسات مونديال قطر 2022.

وقد عين مانشستر يونايتد محامين لمقاضاة كريستيانو رونالدو لخرقه المزعوم للعقد بعد دعاوى قدمها المهاجم في مقابلة أجريت معه مؤخرًا، مع سعي النادي لحل سريع لهذه القضية.

هذا يعني أنه من شبه المؤكد أن رونالدو لن يلعب مع يونايتد مرة أخرى، وبحسب صحيفة “جارديان” البريطانية، من المفهوم أن اللاعب البالغ من العمر 37 عامًا قد تلقى تعليمات بعدم العودة إلى قاعدة تدريب كارينجتون بعد مشاركته مع البرتغال في مونديال قطر.

عندما تحدث رونالدو إلى بيرس مورجان على Talk TV، أدلى بسلسلة من المزاعم حول مانشستر يونايتد.

ومن بين ذلك أنه تم إجباره من قبل النادي، وأن كبار المسؤولين التنفيذيين افتقروا إلى التعاطف بعد وفاة ابنه حديث الولادة في أبريل، وأن المالكين، عائلة جليزر، لا يهتمون بالنادي، وأن المدير الفني إريك تين هاج، لا يهتم بذلك ولا يحترمه.

وقال بيان للنادي يوم الجمعة: “بدأ مانشستر يونايتد هذا الصباح خطوات مناسبة ردًا على مقابلة كريستيانو رونالدو الإعلامية الأخيرة، لن ندلي بمزيد من التعليقات حتى تصل هذه العملية إلى نهايتها”.

تبلغ قيمة عقد رونالدو حوالي 500 ألف جنيه إسترليني في الأسبوع وينتهي في يوليو المقبل.

لم يكن لدى يونايتد معرفة مسبقة بالمقابلة التي أجراها رونالدو، الذي أراد الرحيل في الصيف.

ومن المقرر أن يصل إلى الدوحة يوم الجمعة مع منتخب البرتغال قبل الجلسة التدريبية الأولى للفريق بعد ظهر يوم السبت.

رونالدو هو في فترته الثانية مع مانشستر يونايتد بعد ست سنوات ناجحة للغاية انتهت في عام 2009 بعد فوزه بثلاث بطولات الدوري الممتاز وكأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي وكأس الدوري مرتين ودوري أبطال أوروبا والكرة الذهبية.

مساهمته الفردية جعلته بطلاً لجماهير يونايتد وتم تصنيفه بين أعظم لاعبي النادي.

Benoni’s Willowmoore Park’s status as an international venue could be under the microscope after a domestic one-day cup match between Titans and Knights was abandoned because of a dangerous pitch. This is the second time in five years a fixture has been called off at the venue, meaning CSA’s board can recommend that the ground not be included in the roster of international matches in the season that follows.According to CSA’s administrative conditions clause 5.3, if a playing surface is deemed unsuitable for play, “CSA would have a range of options available to deal with its findings on the pitch in question, including the deduction of points from the home team, the imposition of a fine not exceeding R150,000 or both. A further option available is a recommendation to the Board that the ground in question be excluded from the next season’s roster of International and/or Test matches.”Titans, who use Willowmoore Park as one of their two home grounds, have already been punished with points for the game awarded to Knights. Play was stopped after 19 overs with Titans on 45 for 3. At that stage, the umpires had already seen at least four incidents of inconsistent bounce and, in consultation with the match referee and captains, opted not to continue with the game.”The new balls were jumping up and rearing quite badly and then it just got worse. By the 13th over, it was really bad,” Barry Lambson, the match referee, told ESPNcricinfo.Lambson went on to describe how medium-pacer Malusi Siboto hit both Henry Davids and Heino Kuhn on the arm before the first drinks break. “The umpires consulted but we carried on,” Lambson said.”After drinks, Theunis de Bruyn got a ball at about ankle height and then the next ball just took off. In 2009, a four-day match was called off after seven overs because of unsuitable pitch. On that occasion, it was found that the surface had been overwatered and the bowlers were creating dents in the pitch. The points for the match were shared, which Titans coach Rob Walter would have preferred to see happen this time as well.”If we’re affected from a points point of view, that would be unfair. We just rocked up to play a game of cricket,” he told journalists in Benoni. “The four-day wicket was great, and a few days later this happens.”While Willowmoore Park is not a regular host of international matches, with its last men’s ODI played in March last year, it a common venue for practice matches for touring teams. Last year, unseasonably high rainfall meant it could not stage India’s practice match.It is not due to host any international games this summer but is scheduled for a significant number of domestic cricket games and one fixture involving an international side, which organisers will want to ensure it is properly prepared for. The ground will see two domestic twenty-over matches staged on November 21 and 26, the warm-up match between a South African Invitation XI and the touring West Indians in December, two domestic four-day games next January and March, and another one-day cup match on February 1.
