تم استبعاد كريستيانو رونالدو من قائمة مانشستر يونايتد في مباراة ودية يوم السبت قبل الموسم ضد أتلتيكو مدريد في أوسلو.

سافر إريك تين هاج مدرب مانشستر يونايتد وفريق من 21 لاعباً إلى أوسلو استعدادًا للمواجهة الودية أمام أتلتيكو مدريد.

Arsenal have recently turned a corner and they will be looking to build on that recent form with another victory in this afternoon’s widely-anticipated north London derby.

On the back of three successive victories, Mikel Arteta and his side welcome arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates Stadium and they know that another three points could see them leapfrog today’s opponents in the Premier League standings.

It’ll be no easy task, even if Spurs have seen back-to-back 3-0 defeats in the top-flight.

The Spaniard has plenty to think about ahead of kick-off, especially after his fringe stars put in a decent performance during their Carabao Cup win over League One minnows AFC Wimbledon in midweek.

One player who he must turn to is summer signing Takehiro Tomiyasu – their turnaround in fortunes has come with him in the starting XI and that’s no mere coincidence.

Signed in a €20m (£17m) deal from Serie A outfit Bologna, where he was once described as a “true Japanese warrior” by teammate Mitchell Dijks, the 22-year-old defender has excelled at right-back for Arteta.

Indeed, after just two appearances for the club in the Premier League, the 6 foot 2 beast already sits as the Gunners’ second highest-rated player (7.21), as per WhoScored figures.

He tops the charts for aerial duels won (five per game), which suggests he’s a physical specimen in this Arsenal side, whilst he can also do a lot further up the pitch, having recorded two shots and one dribble on his debut against Norwich City.

Arteta has been impressed with his impact both on and off the pitch. He told reporters (via the Mirror):

“First, more than the performances, it’s the way he’s settled, the way he’s gained everybody’s appreciation, the way he is.

“And then, yeah, he had no time to prepare against Norwich and then a proper Premier League traditional game at Burnley where I think he was exceptional.”

Tomiyasu should have no problems in adapting to such a big occasion.

Spurs may be struggling in attack after The Athletic revealed they had the worst expected goals total (4.42 xG) of anyone in the Premier League before this weekend’s fixtures, but on their day, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son will trouble pretty much any backline across Europe.

Nuno Santo’s side have fired off the second-fewest number of shots, too, but you can forget things like that in a game of this magnitude.

The pair scored 58.8% of the Lilywhites’ 68 league goals last season and on top of that, they registered a combined total of 24 assists, showing just how crucial and devastating they can be.

Tomiyasu, who can also play in the middle, could be the man to help thwart this threat, particularly as he often acts as a third centre-back when Kieran Tierney is bombing on up the left flank.

The £18m-rated Japan international simply must start at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

He was rested for Australia’s most recent one-day game, against South Africa in Hobart on Sunday and it continued his off-and-on season.South Australia have this summer taken the unusual step of allowing Tait to nominate which matches he feels capable of playing. Since he suffered hamstring tendonitis in a one-day game seven weeks ago, Tait has been careful not to overload himself.”If I had my way I would like to play every game, but my body is just not able to do that,” Tait told the . “This management I have gone through with the torn hamstring has paid off in the end.”You have to be a bit careful, though. If you have a good relationship with your support staff then you can talk to them, tell them how you feel and you can manage the situation.”Tait will be joined in the remainder of the ODI series by Johnson, who was rested for the opening games. He said Johnson was a good man to look up to, given how he had handled the rigours of international cricket, both physically and mentally.”You sort of got the feeling people were not sure about his ability or if he was up to it,” Tait said. “I think he has answered all those questions with his batting and fielding as well. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire suspects that Abdoulaye Doucoure is in line for an Everton contract extension. 

The lowdown

The Toffees signed Doucoure from Watford ahead of the 2020/21 season for a fee of just under £20m. He has gone on to play 38 times for the club, scoring four goals and providing six assists (via Transfermarkt).

Carlo Ancelotti, the man who brought him to Goodison Park, hailed him as a ‘complete midfielder’. He is currently thought to be pocketing £75,000 per week, placing him just inside the squad’s top 10.

The latest

Doucoure initially signed a three-year deal when he joined the Blues, meaning Everton would be paying Watford around £6.65m per year. However, if they extend his contract, they will be able to pay the fee in smaller chunks over a longer period.

“We have got people like [Michael] Keane who has just extended his contract,” Maguire told Football Insider. “Every time you extend a contract, you reduce the amortisation cost.

“They have done that with a few, and I suspect we are likely to see it with likes of Doucoure and others as well.”

The verdict

We’ll often hear when a new deal is handed out that a player is being rewarded for their performances, but clearly there are other motivations at play too.

Still, you’d think Everton fans would welcome the news of an extension. Doucoure seemed a coup when they snapped him up, and so he has proved, setting up two of their three goals against Burnley last night.

He should be a starter on Merseyside for a number of years yet.

In other news, Everton are set to revisit this move in January.
